Blocks Pizza Deli, Miami South Beach

Incredible dough from a 300 year old “mother!

The Facts:

CUISINE: Italian, Pizza – Pizza, Sandwiches and salads.

LOCATION: 1447 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, Florida

We visited Blocks as part of the Miami Culinary Tour and holy cow, what a great, no-nonsense Italian and pizza joint that features a 300 year old “mother.” For those not familiar with the term, a “mother” is a dough starter that you keep alive by adding water and flour every day. The mother used here at Blocks started over 300 years ago!

We had the Italian pita which was sundried tomatoes, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. So incredibly good and the crust was amazing. I cannot wait to get back here and try the pizza.

Be aware there’s very little room inside to sit so you might have to get your food to go, but wow, what a great little find. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the Villa Italia Hotel.
